After School Program
The Tech Center is available to all Chase County youth K-12. We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Individual homework assistance is always available. These facilities are made available through the generosity of the citizens of Chase County for their children.
CENTER REOPENING SOON!!!!!During the provisional Tech Center Board’s meeting of February 21, 2012, it was decided to turn the operation of the Center over to a group headed by the Center’s former Director, Warren Olson. He has assured the provisional Board that the Center will be reopened immediately.
The Tech Center President, Sharon Griffin, resigned and Warren Olson was elected President. In keeping with Warren’s desires for a new Board and Director, Acting Director, Jacqua Couch, and the remaining members of the Board resigned. The provisional Board, their Advisors, and the acting Director wish the best of luck to the Tech Center under this new direction. What We doThe Center offers homework assistance, provides nutrious snacks, develops various craft projects and works on social skills. On Fridays, we have the Fun Food Chef program, where a volunteer plans, prepares, and serves the daily snack. Frequently our crafts activities are sent to the local senior living center for their enjoyment. Our Kool Kid of the Week, recognizes a regular attendee for their model performance.
New Computers Make Life Easier!Thanks to a grant from the Emporia Community Fund, the Center has fully functioning and fast computers. Biggest adjustment has been the requirement of headphones to hold down the noise level. We also have a couple of splitters so two students can be plugged in to the same computer. Downtime for non-functioning computers has gone from 50%+ to 0% so I'm happy.
